The usage of eGovernment services in Germany decreased from 45 percent in 2012 to 41 percent in 2017, according to a study on eGovernment services in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The eGovernment Monitor from July-August, conducted by Initiative D21 and Fortiss, shows the usage rate grew in Austria from 67 percent in 2012 to 74 percent in 2017 and in Switzerland from 58 percent to 62 percent.
The main obstacles to usage of eGovernment services were non-awareness of the services (48 percent in Germany, 50 percent in Austria and 45 percent in Switzerland); need of extra hardware (48 percent in Germany, 47 percent in Austria and 30 percent in Switzerland); and missing continuity (47 percent in Germany, 49 percent in Austria and 38 percent in Switzerland).
