Today in Baku the multimedia centre has held a roundtable " Transference to new electronic state services: current situation and prospects ".

At the meeting Osman Gunduz, head of Azerbaijan’s Internet forum said that de to transference to new electronic states services it is also necessary to adopt the program of electronic municipal services development (Electronic Municipality).

"The necessity of such a program is determined b the fact that currently there is a large numeral inequality between state and municipal authority bodies", O. Gunduz said.

The full transfer of Azerbaijani ministries and departments to rendering electronic services to the public is expected to take place by the end of the late first half of 2013, Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry's department representative Elchin Mammadov told journalists on Friday.

Mr. Mammadov said the total number of electronic services to be provided by these agencies is 300 units.

At present, eight agencies are connected to the e-government portal, which is scheduled to be commissioned by late 2011. This will be a key tool supporting public and private sector work with citizens and enterprises.

At the meeting Elchin Mammadov, representative of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, has said that until the end of 2011 the country will put into operation a single portal of e-government services.

Addressing to the roundtable, Osman Gunduz, head of the Internet Forum of Azerbaijan, has said that many of the problems of transition to electronic government services are linked with lack of a clear list of offline public services.

"As a result, there is a situation when little used public services are accessible online, and services that are in popular are not rendered online," Gunduz said.

Azerbaijani citizens will be able to obtain an identity card and passport through internet shortly.

Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov announced this in an interview with Azerbaijan newspaper.

Works are under way to provide population with electronic services under the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev, the minister said.
