Head of Public Relations Department of State Traffic Policy’s Central Administrative Board of Azerbaijan MIA Kamran Aliyev has reported that the country started providing of state number plates with electronic chips.
"Main target for application of number plates with electronic bearers is provision of information availability about the vehicle and its owner", K. Aliyev said.
Earlier K. Aliyev said that the country started introduction of German technology of state number plates’ production for cars. One of the main distinctions of new number plates is the form of flag which is presently wavy.
"The form of the flag will be square in compliance with the law on state flag of Azerbaijan. Also chips will be installed in new number plates to contain all information on the driver, car and so on. The chips also enable to define location of the car. Even if for some reason the number plate is not reflected in cameras installed on roads the chip will allow to define the number plate and car owner ", K. Aliyev said.
According to him at present state fee for state number plate is AZN 18. The state fee is not to rise with introduction of new German technologies.
