The Multimedia Centre is conducting today in Baku roundtable "Transition to electronic public services: current situation & prospects".

Addressing to the roundtable, Osman Gunduz, head of the Internet Forum of Azerbaijan, has said that many of the problems of transition to electronic government services are linked with lack of a clear list of offline public services.

"As a result, there is a situation when little used public services are accessible online, and services that are in popular are not rendered online," Gunduz said.

He also focused on the absence of a concept paper on transfer to electronic government services and activities of e-government.

"As a result, there is a great need in coordination between governmental agencies in the process of introduction of e-services. To tackle these problems, we propose establishment of a coordinating body under the President of Azerbaijan to introduce electronic government services and overall inventory of public services, by making the list of services to become online. It is already clear for everybody that 50% of challenges in the transition process relate to the information and communication technologies, and 50% to specific issues of public authorities’ activities,” Gunduz said.
