The State Committee for Property Affairs of Azerbaijan has presented today an information system of address register.

In the course of the presentation Committee’s deputy chairman Rafig Jalilov has said that the main purpose of the info system is to create a unified and transparent database of addresses, data collection and regular updating, as well as creation of conditions for the system use by state-run institutions and citizens.

"Electronic government" portal launch is postponed, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry told Trend on Friday.

"It was planned to be launched in March," a source said. "It is delayed because most of the e-services presented on the portal are basic. This is unlikely to be in demand among the population."

It will be announced about the final term of launching the portal after a list of services most popular among the population is created.

The use of modern information technology and electronic services is the most effective way to improve efficiency in the fight against corruption in Azerbaijan, minister of taxes Fazil Mammadov said at a conference entitled 'Fight against corruption in Azerbaijan: achievements and prospects,' in Shamakhi on Wednesday.

He said one of the ways to fight corruption is to increase the number of remote check-ups.

"The new software introduced by the Ministry to carry out desk audits, allowed us to increase more efficiency," Mr Mammadov said. He added the crackdown against corruption is in the ministry's focus.

The Azerbaijani Presidential Administration has sent the Draft State Non-Cash Payment Program for interagency coordination to promote non-cash payments for the period of 2012-16.

Finance Ministry’s source says that the document has already submitted to the Cabinet Ministers. The document was signed by State Adviser on Economic Issues Vahid Akhundov.

Kamal Gurbanov, the head of the Central Bank’s Department of Payment Systems and Settlements, says that the new program implies expansion of use of advanced e-payment services.

There is need for creation of a new public service for e-services in Azerbaijan.

The statement came from head of the Legal Policy and State Building Committee of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Ali Huseynov.
