Students interested in furthering their secondary education at the Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) can now submit their application for the 2010 intake online.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the introduction of the online system was in line with the development in information technology, besides simplifying and saving time processing applications using the existing process.

The Malaysian state government of Terengganu has announced the completion of phase one of the Broadband Wireless Network Project (BWNP), which is part of the state’s e-government initiative, T-eG (Terengganu e-government).

As part of T-eG, the local government has planned to use wireless infrastructure to connect all government offices to improve its service offerings for the public and increase service efficiency.

The portal ranked 15th in 2007 and moved closer to the top 10 last year with 1,115 online services for government agencies, businesses, and a one stop centre for the public to deal with all government related services.

Malaysia’s government portal, www.malaysia.gov.my, has been ranked top 11 among 198 countries which offers online Electronic Government (EG) services by Brookings Institution in the United States.

Every day, if weather permits, two helicopters fly medical personnel into remote villages in Sabah to render medical aid to those in need.

These are villages which are not accessible by road or river.

Sabah Health director Dr Marzukhi Md Isa said the medical team flew in to around 30 such remote villages.
