Providing e-Government services is more than providing hardware and software to the relevant agencies, but equally calls for the improvement of the business process before getting these services online, said the Acting Director of E-Govermnent National Centre (EGNC) in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.

In addressing this matter, Hjh Mariah Hj Mohd Taha said that the Bruneian government has conducted many Business Re-engineering exercises as part of the e-Government initiative, where they were "looking at the back-end process to help the front-end service delivery" to bring the service to the citizens.

The opinions of more than 700 respondents have been received so far for the ongoing e-Government Citizen Survey, including feedback from Bruneians currently studying abroad who participated through the online version of the survey, said the Acting Director of the e-Government National Centre (EGNC).

Hjh Mariah Hj Mohd Taha, who is also a Senior Special Duties Officer at the Prime Minister's Office, shared with The Brunei Times that the feedback of more than 400 respondents has been collected during the survey's roadshow, which has already reached the Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Temburong Districts and will see Belait District's participation on Sunday.

The Bruneian government is seeking genuine and conclusive results from the e-Government Citizen Survey, which is currently being carried out in the country's four districts, according to an official from BAG Networks, the consultant firm appointed to carry out the survey.

Speaking to The Brunei Times yesterday when the e-government survey was carried out for the BruneiMuara District at The Mall in Gadong, BAG Networks Marketing Analyst Rachel Salleh spoke of the necessity of getting constructive feedback.

To further enhance and improve public services to the citizen and residents of Brunei Darussalam through internet, an e-Government citizen survey is currently being carried out by the Prime Minister’s Office with Infocom Federation Brunei in collaboration with E-government National Centre and Bag Network.

Launched in conjunction with the e-Government Strategic Plan 2009-2014, the key objective of the survey is to seek feedback from citizens to further improve the government services provided to the people (”Rakyat”) by providing a multiple channel of delivery to citizens.

The media plays an important role in disseminating information on developments and activities either through the print media or the internet. In this regard, the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation this morning held a Media Appreciation ceremony as well as the launching of the Foundation’s Official Website.

Communications,Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, who is also the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors officially launched the Website.The initiative to develop the official website was in response to the government call through the e-government 2009 to 2014 Strategic Plan, which underlines the need to give accurate, credible and up-to-date online informaton.
