UAE University vice-chancellor Dr Hadef bin Jouan Al Dhahiri said the memorandum of understanding would enable the university to achieve its goal of strengthening its focus on IT education by providing on-the-job training to the students.

UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry Dr Mohamed Khalfan bin Kharbash said the projects, covering vital aspects relevant to federal government processes, would be initiated in another six months. Set up last April, the committee submitted the transition plan for approval last month.

The launch comes at the instruction of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence, in his capacity as Head of Dubai Police and Public Security.

Involving multiple ministries, five projects have been identified as high priority by the Steering Committee responsible for the e-Government initiative, and could be initiated in another six months or so.
