Dubai eGovernment has announced the launch of eEmployee, a new initiative designed to provide IT skills to government employees through online and classroom training leading to the ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) certification.

The programme aims to enhance the ability of government departments to deliver improved eServices to the public and the business community.

Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) has achieved a faster output of work visas following full integration with the Ministry of Labour for receiving labour permits electronically.

Colonel Saeed bin Belailah, Director Dubai Naturalisation & Residency Department (DNRD). During the first five months of 2004, DNRD received 113,485 labour permits electronically from the Ministry of Labour in the UAE.

The UAE e-government Steering Committee, chaired by H.E. Saqer Ghobash, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Culture on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Khalfan bin Kharbash, UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry, reviewed today the next phase of the implementation of the UAE e-government project.

Dubai Police has joined Dubai eGovernment's AskDubai contact centre to provide round-the-clock access to information on 34 key services through multiple channels.

Dubai Police is the fifth government department to move to the AskDubai platform for providing more dynamic and interactive communication channels to the public.

An official delegation from Sudan recently visited Dubai eGovernment to get first-hand knowledge of the IT systems and integrated portal, in an effort to learn from the Dubai experience and apply the model to the e-government initiative in Sudan.
