Dubai e-Government has launched an e-Citizen Certification Programme to increase the awareness and usage of the government's online services amongst the public.

The e-Citizen programme is intended to educate citizens on the most effective way of using Dubai's extensive e-government infrastructure. Upon completion of the training and exams, candidates will be provided an e-Citizen Certificate from Dubai e-government.

Dubai eGovernment has launched an SMS service that allows mobile phone users to get immediate responses from government.

The new service is a key plank of Dubai eGovernment's mDubai service that aims to deliver messages via mobile phones, PDAs or the internet.

Dubai eGovernment has launched a new 'pull' SMS service that allows mobile phone users to seek specific information from government departments by sending an SMS to one number, 4488, and receive a response to their inquiry on the mobile in real time.

This innovative offering is part of Dubai eGovernment's mDubai service that aims to deliver messages via mobile phones, PDAs or the Internet

Dubai Municipality has become the first government department to successfully apply SMS service for receiving information from the public regarding their e-transactions with the Municipality and answering these SMS messages electronically.

Abdullah Al Shaibani, Assistant Director General for Technical Services said that earlier using SMS was confined to e-government systems only. This systems used to send emergency messages to the mobile phone of the customer to inform him about specific information on the e-transaction.

Dubai e-Government and New Horizons have introduced in Gitex 2004, the e-Citizen Certification Program as a result of their partnership under the e4all initiative.

The program aims at increasing the level of awareness and usage of Dubai e-government online services among organizations and individuals in the UAE.
