Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) has joined Dubai eGovernment's AskDubai call centre, 7000 40000, to provide callers round-the-clock information on its various services including related issues to Commercial Operations, Lease & Licensing, Sales and IT Services.

DAFZA joins an increasing number of government agencies opting to use a centralized response service to handle queries from business and public callers through multiple channels.

Dubai eGovernment is accelerating its community outreach programme through a series of roadshows targeting the student community in Dubai.

A key highlight of the programme is a presentation on Dubai eGovernment's vision, mission, targets, achievements, future challenges and long-term strategies.

Ras Al-Khaimah (RAK), a member state of the United Arab Emirates, has gone live with a new e-government portal.

The portal - rak.ae - offers residents web-based access to all government services, news and weather information, and facilities for handling transactions such as bill payments. Content can be accessed in Arabic or English.

Dubai Municipality has announced a mega e-services project, Building Permits and Control Application, to automate the procedure of applying and obtaining building permits and the process of building controls in the emirate of Dubai.

The new online services, which are aimed at contractors and consultants of Building and Constructions projects in Dubai, will reduce the time taken to issue building permits by over 80 per cent. The initiative is in line with Dubai Municipality's vision to take forward Dubai's 'e-government' initiative, by offering several services online, through its portal.

Dubai eGovernment says 90 per cent of Government services will be available through electronic channels by 2007

Dubai eGovernment is pushing ahead with its strategic goal of providing 90 per cent of Government services through electronic channels, including Web, mobile devices and fixed line telephones, by the end of 2007.
