The term, ‘Digital Divide,’ has always fascinated the Indian IT industry. Both the government and social organisations from the private sector have launched various schemes to take ‘IT to the masses.'

In fact, IT MNCs have taken the lead in launching applications for the rural areas. Microsoft, Intel and HP, all have something to offer to the rural India.

In yet another attempt to take the e-revolution to the villages, a job portal exclusively for rural youths is now in the pipeline.

Tying up for the venture are naukri.com, the popular job site, and the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (ILFSL), a private company. Incidentally, the ILFSL is also assisting the Centre in its National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).

Bihar's tech-savvy Chief Minster Nitish Kumar has initiated a move for e-governance in the state by providing laptops to the top brass in the state administration.

The officials will now be able to keep records of their departmental activities and development projects.

The concept of e-governance should reduce delay, Karnataka Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ananthakrishna said on Saturday.

He was inaugurating a seminar on ‘MCA-21, e-filing and digital signature’ jointly organised by Mangalore branch of SIRC(Southern India Regional Council) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mangalore branch of SIRC of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the conference hall of Karnataka Bank.

As part of ministry of company affairs' e-governance program, MCA-21, western India Registrar of Companies office located in Mumbai will soon go online and all functions of the ministry will done online including the process of liquidation of any company, said MCA's Western India director, V S Rao.

Rao was addressing an interactive meeting organised by Indian Merchant Chamber meeting on e-governance. The other speakers who spoke at the function included V A Vijayan, registrar of companies, Maharashtra.
