As part of ministry of company affairs' e-governance program, MCA-21, western India Registrar of Companies office located in Mumbai will soon go online and all functions of the ministry will done online including the process of liquidation of any company, said MCA's Western India director, V S Rao.

Rao was addressing an interactive meeting organised by Indian Merchant Chamber meeting on e-governance. The other speakers who spoke at the function included V A Vijayan, registrar of companies, Maharashtra.

Rao further said the Mumbai centre is expected to go on-line by April 24th and all other centres by end of May this year.

"This facility will make all MCA documents public and will be accesible to the public. This will help meet the long-standing from bankers to who such data to sanction loans to companies and investors who plan to invest in the company's share.

It will bring greater transparency in corporate governance too. Going online will also prevent misplacement of records and tampering by mischievous elements," Rao said.

On completion of the project, anyone will be able to read alliance sheets and other relevant documents which fall in public domain on MCA's website for a small fee, he added.

It will enable companies file annual returns, reports and other documents like balance sheet etc. online.

This also allows the public easy access to information like memorandum of articles, name, addresses and occupation of the directors of company etc, said Vijayan.
