Governor-elect for Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, has promised to introduce "e-governance" in the state.

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has entered into partnership with key government ministries and agencies for a special workshop on the adoption of eGovernance in Nigeria as a way of identifying with the present administration's determiation to institutionalise transparency, accountability and proper documentation of government revenue profile.

The innovative workshop, scheduled to hold from May 15 - 16, 2007, in Lagos , at the FITC, Apapa, aims to equip and educate Nigerian banks, individuals and businesses on the imperative to adopt electronic payment and administrative procedures in transactions involving government institutions, agencies and parastatals.

The National eGovernment Strategies Limited disclosed that it had eventually commenced full eProduct roll out and marketing stage of the programme, even as the agency had continued to march on progressively towards its mandate. Speaking with Journalists in Abuja Thursday, the Executive Vice Chairman of the National eGovernment Strategies Limited, Dr. Olu Agunloye said the agency is responsible for eGovernment’s platform on which several other networks and applications reside or with which they communicate.

Olu Agunloye, executive vice chairman of National e-Government Strategies (NeGSt) has said that the agency is raising N500 million through private investment to fast track its operations.

Agunloye, at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja, said the amount was being raised through a consortium of banks, including UBA, Skye Bank, WEMA Bank and GT Bank.
