Vice Chairman, Na-tional eGovernment Strategies (NeGSt), Olu Agunloye has said that acute shortage of reliable database within federal ministries and agencies was affecting the eGovernment project.

Agunloye said at the inauguration of the strategy national office complex Abuja Wednesday, that without a reliable database the project would not achieve the desired result.

He said that the proliferation of stand-alone dedicated electronic payment systems and significant cases of cyber insecurity and crimes were other major challenges confronting the project.

Minister of Health, Professor Eyitayo Lambo, yesterday in Abuja endorsed the use of information technology-driven health care delivery system as a way of dispensing quick and reliable health services. He said until Nigeria adopts the option of telemedicine and other information technology aided approach, the reliasation of the millennium development goal of improving health care for all by next year will not be realizable.

The minister stated this yesterday at the commencement of a two-day workshop on Telemedicine and Health organized by the National eGovernment Strategies(NeGSt) in collaboration with Society for Telemedicine and Health in Nigeria(SFTehin).

The Nigerian Health care delivery system has crossed the digital divide with the deployment of ICT to meet the millennium goals in the sector. This was disclosed recently at a two day workshop and official launch of Telemedicine and eHealth held at the Digital Bridge Institute, Abuja by the National eGovernment Strategies (NeGSt) in collaboration with Society for Telemedicine and eHealth in Nigeria (SFTeHIN).

The Osun State government on Tuesday in Osogbo unveiled an expansive Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure that is to usher the state into electronic governance (e-Government).

The entire project consists of a bureau of computer service and IT, complete with Local Area Network (LAN) for e-Governance, an Internet access backbone with VSAT, Fibre optic inter-connectivity to all agencies of government, wireless radio inter-connectivity to remote agencies of government, fibre optic cable inter-connectivity to Internet-access backbone to official quarters as well as live streaming capacity website for radio and TV live broadcast.
