The National Government Strategies (NeGSt) today commenced the process of standardising all payment systems in the country.

NeGSt Executive Vice Chairman Olu Agunloye said at a premier session on eReadiness for government ministries, departments and agencies today in Abuja that the process would lead to the introduction of e Payment in the country.

Agunloye said that through the ePayment initiatives government would be able to monitor and track its revenue collection as well as management.

He said that ePayment would bring about transparency and accountability in governance, as well as proper documentation of government revenue profile.

Agunloye said that the initiative would also allow various government revenue collecting agencies’ to concentrat to migrate government documents and businesses into a national databank for effective monitoring and control.

It was recalled that the federal government in August directed all MDA’s to collaborate with NeGSt to transfer their businesses and forms on-line as part of the Government project.

Earlier, a Director with NeGSt, Alhaji Abubakar Ali, said that the session was geared towards producing a new virile civil service for the country.

Ali said that NeGSt would trained more than 30,000 government officers as part of strategies for the full deployment of eGovernance in the country .

The session attracted participants from the Nigerian Customs Service, Immigration, ministries of Finance, Science and Technology, Commerce as well as Banks and Internet service providers.
