  • Bahrain: Labour Market Regulatory Authority unveils hi-tech multilingual website

    Bahrain's Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has launched a cosmopolitan multilingual website which can be translated into more than 50 languages.

    Labour Minister and chairman Dr Majeed Al Alawi yesterday patronised the launch ceremony.

    Chief executive officer Ali Ahmed Radhi and senior officials attended the ceremony at the LMRA headquarters in Sanabis.

  • Bahrain: Launch of Monthly eNewsletter of eGovernment Program

    As part of its strategy headway, the eGovernemnt Authority yesterday announced release of the first issue of an eNewsletter which will demonstrate the recent news, activities and launches of the eGovernemnt’s program in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The eNewsletter will allow visitors of the eGovernment portal “Bahrain.bh” to interact directly.

    “We are pleased to release the first issue of the official eNewsletter, which is a result of direct attention and direction of the Supreme Committee for Information Communications Technology, headed by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Chairman of the Supreme Committee for ICT. The eNewsletter is intended to spread awareness on various eServices activities, news and to educate the public about every new achievement related to Stages of implementation of eGovernment's strategy” Mr. Mohammed Al Qaed, CEO of the eGovernemt Authority, said.

  • Bahrain: Manama to host regional MDG e-Centre

    A specialised e-centre is to be set up in Manama to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the GCC and Africa. During a recent seminar of the National Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) held in Manama, concrete plans were discussed for the establishing of such a centre that would provide e- solutions aimed at accelerating the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

    The e-centre is to be established by Bahrain's e-Government Authority under funding by the UN. In its capacity as a leader in the ICT field the authority will establish the Capacity Building Centre for Developing Arab Countries and Africa which will be a training and consultancy centre that will assist various countries based on their needs and requirements. The centre will serve as a 'one-stop shop' providing governments in the region with vital resource and development assistance.

  • Bahrain: Memorandum of Understanding signed in preparation for E-Government Forum

    The Bahrain eGovernment Authority (eGA), Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), Bahrain Information Technology Society (BITS), and Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at a press conference held yesterday to organize and manage the upcoming Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2009 in its second edition.

    The event, which will be held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), will run from the 25th to the 27th of May, 2009, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center.

  • Bahrain: Minister of Cabinet Affairs announces completion of eService Centers and eKiosks

    His Excellency Shaikh Ahmed bin Attayatallah Al Khalifa Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Minister Responsible of Teleommunication Sector, announced the completion of launching all 15 eServices Centers, and 35 eKiosks allocated in all kingdom areas.

    Launching the eServices Centers and the eKiosks come as part of the service delivery channels for the eGovernment, beside the other channels: eGovernment Portal, Mobile Gateway, and National Contact Center), where users can benefit from the eservices through the channels at anytime and anywhere.

  • Bahrain: Ministry of Education launches 'Registration for Continuous Education Programs' on website

    In cooperation with the eGovernment Authority in Bahrain, the Ministry of Education recently launched "Registration for Continuous Education Programs" eService on the eGovernment national portal Bahrain.bh and the Ministry of Education's website.

    The new service offers eRegisteration to the language programs provided by the Ministry through the Community Services Department and Continuous Education Department, and comes as part of its efforts to provide effective eGovernment services to all citizens.

  • Bahrain: Ministry of Health launches pre-employment medical checkup booking online

    The Ministry of Health in Bahrain recently launched the pre-employment medical checkup for expat workers online.

    The new eService is available around the clock on the eGovernment Portal, www.bahrain.bh, and comes as part of the Ministry of Health's continuous efforts in elevating the level of its services in line with the Bahrain Vision 2030.

  • Bahrain: Ministry of Housing Launches Unit Maintenance Requests eService on eGov't National Portal

    The Ministry of Housing (MoH), in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority of Bahrain (eGA), recently launched the “Unit Maintenance Requests” eService on the eGA National Portal (www.bahrain.bh). This latest offering is designed to facilitate access to the citizens of Bahrain who are beneficiaries of Housing Schemes, providing a quick and easy method to register maintenance requests. The initiative comes as part of the Bahrain Vision 2030 which aims to build a better quality of life for all of Bahrain’s citizens.

  • Bahrain: Ministry of Works launches 'Abnormal Load Permission' eService on national portal

    The Ministry of Works (MoW), in partnership with the eGovernment Authority, recently launched the 'Abnormal Load Permission' eService on the eGovernment National Portal (www.bahrain.bh).

    The eService allows businessmen to apply for abnormal load permissions for trucks and other heavy vehicles online with ease and convenience, needing only to complete an electronic form which contains details such as the desired route and load and carrier details.

  • Bahrain: Ministry of Works launches e-service for building maintenance requests

    The Ministry of Works in Bahrain (MoW) recently launched the 'Building Maintenance Requests' eService on the eGovernment National Portal.

    The new service comes as part of the eGovernment Authority (eGA) and Government entities' efforts to provide a fully integrated and modern eGovernment system in line with the strategies of the Bahrain Vision 2030.

  • Bahrain: Ministry website 'boon' for job-seekers

    The Labour Ministry yesterday launched a new interactive website, opening new doors of opportunity for job-seekers. Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi, who launched the upgraded portal www.mol.gov.bh said it would also guide employers on how to choose their employees. Institutions will also get guidance through the website on training requirements in the kingdom, he told a Press conference following the launch at the ministry headquarters in Isa Town.

  • Bahrain: Mobile phones help map future

    People are now able to get maps on their mobile phones to find their way around Bahrain.

    The service was launched yesterday, as part of Bahrain's e-government programme, at a ceremony held at the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), Isa Town.

    It has been developed by the CIO, represented by the GIS (Geographical Information System) and the Addresses Directorate.

  • Bahrain: MoFA goes hi-tech

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has become the first ministry to offer on-line procurement or e-Procurement services with more efficiency and reliability by working within the BD22 million national e-Government Initiative.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the launch of its new electronic website at an event held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT).

  • Bahrain: Ms. Sawsan Sabra declares there is no specific definition of the term E-government

    The member of the conference committee in the Bahrain Management Society BMS, Ms. Sawsan Sabra declared that there is no specific definition of the term E-government because of its multidimensional aspects: technical, administrative, commercial, and social.

    She also stated that various accredited international scientific bodies confirm the existence of many definitions of e-government. In the year 2002, the United Nations defined e-government as 'the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web to provide broad information and government services to citizens.

    DECISION-makers in Bahrain are to get better access to accurate information, under a new government programme.

    The National Dataset Project (NDP) has been undertaken by the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO).

  • Bahrain: Net 'war' on crime

    An interactive website aimed at involving the community in a crime prevention campaign will be launched by the Interior Ministry.

    The project is part of a government programme to develop and implement a comprehensive e-government strategy.

  • Bahrain: Net healthcare system on way

    AN online healthcare system is on the drawing board, making healthcare information and services available to users wherever there is access to the Internet.

    Personal health files for patients will be accessible by doctors, thereby sparing them from having to duplicate information that has already been investigated, such as blood tests.

  • Bahrain: New card will help pay bills

    A new payment facility by debit card for traffic fines, electricity and water bills through Bahrain's government web portal www.e.gov.bh was launched yesterday.

    An agreement to enable the debit card payment facility has been signed between the Finance Ministry and Ahli United Bank, which will use the Benefit system offering an electronic network for financial transaction.

  • Bahrain: New contact centre company launched

    An agreement was signed yesterday between the eGovernment Authority and contact centre solutions provider Merchants to establish the new company, Silah Gulf.

    The company will provide a full range of integrated contact centre solutions on a local and regional level.

    The partnership will also pave way towards launching the National Contact Centre, the fourth and final integrated government eService delivery channel, having previously launched the eGovernment National Portal (Bahrain.bh), Mobile Gateway, and Common Service Centres.

  • Bahrain: New data security project launched

    A HI-TECH project has been launched by the government to protect its data and information network from hacking and espionage.

    The multi-million dinar Government Data Security Project will involve the use of the most advanced technology to protect both the hardware and software from viruses.
