Transforming Government since 2001
In cooperation with the eGovernment Authority in Bahrain, the Ministry of Education recently launched "Registration for Continuous Education Programs" eService on the eGovernment national portal Bahrain.bh and the Ministry of Education's website.

The new service offers eRegisteration to the language programs provided by the Ministry through the Community Services Department and Continuous Education Department, and comes as part of its efforts to provide effective eGovernment services to all citizens.

"This form of education is becoming increasingly important, especially today where the rate in which common practices and skill sets can become obsolete seemingly overnight," said Mr. Zaher Mohammed Saeed, Assistant Under Secretary Planning & Information at Ministry of Education.

"As a result," he continued, "continuous education is now a key means of broadening skill sets to access better employment and career development opportunities, and is considered a significant contributing factor to economic sustainability and growth - a prime objective of Vision 2030."

The service allows citizens and residents to browse through the courses and register for any of them easily and from the comfort of their homes, as those who want to register for continuous education courses to visit the eGovernment portal www.bahrain.bh, click on the (Individuals) tab, choose the service (Registration for Continuous Education Programs) that is classified under the (Education) type, review the programs after the payment through the website, either by credit card or ATM card. Registration can also be done through the Ministry of Education Website www.moe.gov.bh, and enter the (eServices) list.

Continuous education programs eService was launched in December, and allows the public to submit their suggestions directly to the Ministry for other courses they want to be added in the future.

The courses focus on teaching English, French, Russian and Arabic (for non-native speakers), and aims to develop a basic understanding of foreign languages which allows for easier communication between cultures.

To enroll in these courses, participant must complete all personal data requirements, provide a current email address, and pay the course fees. For non-Bahrainis, only those with a valid residency in the Kingdom of Bahrain can register. Courses commence once the minimum required number of participants is met.

So far, the Ministry of Education has launched 8 eServices on the eGovernment national portal (Bahrain.bh), which currently offers 108 different Governmental eServices for citizens, residents, visitors, and businesses, out of 200 that will ultimately be offered by end of 2010 as stipulated within the Bahrain eGovernment strategic plan.
