"The new training law and labour reforms process have placed greater responsibility on the Labour Ministry," said Dr Al Alawi.
"Since its establishment in 1998, the Labour Ministry website has contributed in providing comprehensive information and professional services towards an advanced, safe, fair and harmonious labour market practices."
The new website has been launched in the light of re-organisation of the Labour Ministry, said Dr Al Alawi.
"This dynamic site using the most advanced Internet applications will enable end-users to access new services and information in an interactive way," he added.
"A range of specialised agencies, the boards and commissions involved with the ministry in its work, private sector employees and job-seekers will benefit from the portal."
Unemployed people in Bahrain can apply for jobs through the new site, said Dr Al Alawi.
"Employers can list the vacancies available and access people who are qualified to fill those vacancies," he added.
"The site also provides facilities like hotlines, telephone directory, career guidance and photo centre."
The job-seekers centre and the employers centre are listed under e-Jobs.
Under e-Services, there are work permits e-Centre, training e-Centre and forms e-Centre.
Dr Al Alawi said people can also use the website in providing information related to labour inspection.
"During the mid-day work ban in July and August, we relied heavily on people, many of whom called our inspection department and provided details of companies, which defied the ban," he added.
"We are sure the new website will prove a great boon for people in Bahrain."
The new portal has been designed by Bahraini firm Ideas with the support of Microsoft.
The ministry's partners in the project are the Bahrain eGovernment Portal and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
Upgrading the website cost BD10,000-12,000.
Dr Al Alawi said the Bahrainisation rate allocated for each sector by the ministry was approved by LMRA in its last meeting, which decided to maintain the rates.
These rates shall vary according to the availability of qualified local workforce, newly trained personnel and the type of job-seekers' qualifications, he said.
