  • Bahraini, Thai IT, e-Government cooperation discussed

    e-Government CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed today discussed with Thai Ambassador to Bahrain, Chayapan Bamrungphong, ways to promote cooperation in the field of IT and e-Government.

    The two sides also discussed creating new joint venture investment opportunities in various areas.

  • Bahrein: E-services get a boost

    Bahrain's e-government project yesterday took centre stage as Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chaired a meeting of the ICT Supreme Committee at Gudaibiya Palace.

    Pricewater House gave a detailed presentation, highlighting the project's multi-faceted applications in both the public and private sectors.

  • Bahrein: Online help centre opens

    One of the only four e-government help centres in the world was opened in Bahrain at the new Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) headquarters, Isa Town, yesterday.

    CIO, IBM and Bahrain Business Machines (BBM) jointly set up the centre.

    It will help Bahrain and other governments in the Middle East to roll out e-government projects.

  • Bahrein: Safety Net on the way

    A cyber law to protect Bahrain's web users from hackers who create viruses, steal vital information and pose a threat to the economy is on the way.

    Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) acting president Shaikh Ahmed bin Ateyatalla Al Khalifa told the GDN new powers to prosecute those responsible for cyber crimes were in the pipeline.

  • Bahrein: Smart move over e-cards

    Bahrain's new smart card got the final green light yesterday, as the Cabinet approved the law stipulating its introduction.

    It will eventually replace the old CPR card and will carry all the data people need to use the country's public services.

  • Batelco Bahrain awarded ISO 27001 certification for e-Services

    Batelco's E-Services, the Company's online customer services portal, has been awarded ISO 27001 Certification - the International Standard for Information Security Management, following a rigorous auditing process conducted by Bureau Veritas Certification.

    Batelco is the first telecommunications company in the Kingdom of Bahrain to have its online e-Services certified with ISO 27001.

    A number of Batelco teams, led by the Information Security Team, cooperated to complete the comprehensive process and meet all the set criteria required by the auditing team at Bureau Veritas.

  • BeAware app limiting spread of Covid-19 in Bahrain

    Limiting the spread of Covid-19 and ensuring public safety are some of the highlighted benefits of Bahrain’s ‘BeAware’ mobile application.

    In a short video released yesterday, the Health Ministry explains the app’s contribution in limiting the spread of the coronavirus in Bahrain, along with the contact tracing procedure.

    The four-minute video also features citizens and residents speaking on their experiences with the application.

  • BeAware Bahrain' App now offers COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Results service

    A new option on the 'BeAware Bahrain' app will allow users to upload photos of their COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test results to be submitted to Health Ministry, announced the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).

    The service is in line with directives issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to maximise the use of technology to respond to COVID-19.

  • BH: 10,284 users benefited from ministry’s e-services

    Information Technology Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning Hisham Sater revealed that the number of users of the Ministry’s 10 electronic services during the first half of 2015 reached 10,284.

    The services can be accessed through both the Ministry’s portal www.works.gov.bh, and the eGovernment portal www.bahrain.bh.

    According to Sater, statistics revealed that the Materials Testing Results Services targeted the highest number of users with 7,572 users, after which came the Traffic Diversion Request eService with 2114 users, and then the Material/Product Assessment eService with 284 users. The remaining number of users used the rest of the electronic services available which are the report road fault, sanitary maintenance request, sanitary connection request, traffic signals request, abnormal load permission, contractor pre-qualification, traffic diversion request and building maintenance request.

  • BH: 14,515 users accessed MoW's e-services

    The Director of Information Technology at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs & Urban Planning, Hisham Sater, said 3995 users accessed the ministry’s 10 electronic services during the third quarter of 2015.

    He added the total number of users registered from the beginning of the year until September was 14,515 and that the services can be accessed through both the ministry’s portal www.works.gov.bh, and the e-Government Portal www.bahrain.bh.

  • BH: 18,992 users benefited from MoW’s e-services in 2014

    Information Technology Director at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities & Urban Planning Hisham Sater revealed that the number of users for the Ministry’s electronic services during the last quarter of 2014 reached 4366, while the total number of users throughout year 2014 amounted to 18992 users. The services can be accessed through both the Ministry’s portal http://www.works.gov.bh, and the eGovernment portal http://www.bahrain.bh.

    According to Sater, December registered the highest number of users; with 1568 users, while April registered a usage rate of 53.2%. The statistics also revealed that the Materials Testing Results Services targeted the highest number of users; with 17476 users, after which came the Material/Product Assessment eService with 517 users, and then the Report of Road Fault with 469 users. The sanitary engineering complaints targeted 239 users, while both requesting permission for unusual loads and contractors qualification service registered 80 users for each.

  • BH: Arab e-Content Forum kick-starts

    The e-Government Authority's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammed Ali Al Qaed has affirmed that the Arab content on the Internet is below the expected because of the limited interest of individuals, organisations and governments in it, stressing the importance of developing it through the establishment of research centers specialised in the advancement of Arab content on the Internet.

    Al Qaed was speaking as he patronised here today the opening of the Arab e-Content Forum entitled "Prospects and creating new opportunity for development and investment".

  • BH: BIS Hails PM directives supporting ICT Development in the GAP 2015-2018

    Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) hailed the plans and efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s government projected with extreme clarity and transparency through its 2015-2018 Action Plan under the slogan "Towards justice, security and well-being of society" that was presented by the Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, in his keynote speech, which he delivered during a meeting at the Parliament last week, in the presence of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

  • BH: Central Financial System presentation

    The Ministry of Finance (MOF) made a presentation to the eGovernment Authority (eGA) on MOF’s Central Financial System (CFS). The presentation was given during the visit of a UN delegation representing 21 countries, which was organised by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) to know about Bahrain’s e-gov expertise.

    The MOF delegation shed light on the crucial role of the CFS in managing the financial aspect of government work by linking ministries and government organizations through a set of Oracle E-Business Suite applications.

  • BH: CIO holds workshop on Open Data

    Central Informatics Organisation (CIO), in cooperation with e-Government Authority, tomorrow will hold a workshop on (Open Data).

    Richard Kirby from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs will give the lecture in the presence of a number of government officials concerned with data and information.

  • BH: Clearance procedures to be fast-tracked

    The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed held a meeting with the Bahrain Transaction Clearance Society chairman Mohammed Al-Ashoul.

    The meeting followed directives from the wise leadership to streamline procedures for citizens and residents and upgrade the smart card services. It was also attended by senior EWA management officials and members of the association.

  • BH: Crown Prince encourages use of new e-complaints and suggestions system

    His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today encouraged all government bodies to make use of the new e-complaints and suggestions system (Tawasul).

    The Tawasul system has been introduced by the E-Government Authority (EGA) in close coordination with the Bahrain Centre for Excellence and other government entities in order to allow the public to readily share their feedback on the quality of government services by submitting complaints about shortcomings and failures to address issues. In addition, the system is designed to increase government performance and maintain transparency.

  • BH: CSB launches updated smartphone apps

    The Civil Service Bureau(CSB) said it has launched a new update for its smartphones application "Government Employee" which provides more electronic services to employees of government entities as well as those interested in following up developments of civil service law and regulations.

    The application was launched in cooperation with the Information and Informatics and eGovernment Authority and includes a new package of services required by the employee in the Governmnt sector.
