Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam recently signed a directive regarding e-Government development towards digital governance and transformation.

Despite recent positive results, major bottlenecks remain in the implementation of the work, with data sharing being one of the main issues.

In addition, due focus has yet to be paid on ensuring cyber security, human resources and a budget for information technology applications, as well as the building of e-Government.

Digital transformation is an issue of changing from traditional management awareness and methods to the comprehensive application of digital technology.

In order to fulfil the tasks set for 2022, the Ministry of Transport has asked its agencies and units to consider the building of e-Government and digital transformation as one of the key missions that needed to be prioritised to form data for management and administrative reform.

Digital transformation is both a need and an inevitable trend that will help businesses survive and develop in the Industry 4.0 era, experts said.

This also holds true for the post COVID-19 new normal period, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

I can say for sure that Vietnam is among the countries issuing the strategy on developing digital economy and digital society early.

In the morning of April 27, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, chaired the second online meeting to evaluate the implementation results in the first quarter of 2022 and identify key tasks and solutions to focus on implementing in the coming time. At Binh Duong connection point, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

According to a report of the Ministry of Information and Communications – the standing agency of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, the contribution of the digital economy to Vietnam's economy is increasing as it is estimated that digital economic revenue in the first quarter of 2022 will gain about USD 53 billion. In which, the platform digital economy has a growth rate of 28%, gaining USD 8 billion of revenue, the rest is the ICT digital economy and the industry digital economy with an average revenue growth rate of about 15%.
