The Ministry of Information and Communications on Friday organized a press conference to launch a competition on seeking solutions to national digital transformation called Viet Solutions 2022.

The competition aims to seek solutions to strengthen digital solutions in sectors, localities and businesses.

Amid the 4th industrial revolution, Vietnamese scientists have quickly adapted and applied scientific and technical technology for socio-economic development. In particular, a member of Phenikaa Group (A&A Green Phoenix Group Joint Stock Company) researched and launched the first level 4 smart self-driving vehicle product in Vietnam with many outstanding features and advantages, which were researched, developed and put into application by a team of Vietnamese scientists.

Level 4 smart self-driving vehicle is one of the few self-driving cars in the world that possesses level 4 driverless features on a 5-level scale developed by the Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE). The vehicle’s 40 smart features are divided into 4 groups of systems: Lane Control, Safety Control, Obstacle Detection, and Smart Driving.

HCM City will need to promote the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the education sector as part of its effort to become a smart city by 2030, experts said.

Education is among 10 key sectors on which the city has focused to develop its digital economy, in addition to healthcare, transportation, finance-banking, tourism, agriculture, logistics, environment, energy, and human resources.

Cities and provinces across Vietnam will need to develop a database system and data sharing mechanism among State management agencies to develop e-government as part of an effort to become smart cities, experts said.

Speaking at a recent meeting, Dr. Pham Thai Son, an expert on urban development at UN Habitat and Viet Duc University, said that database sharing among management agencies at both central and local levels was key to the process of developing e-government.

Vietnam’s economic planners have presented ideas to create smart cities in 41 out of the 63 provinces and cities in the country in order to “accelerate sustainable urban development,” local media reported.

The overall goal is to boost digital transformation in urban governance by creating smart government solutions including features such as digitised transport, transport, energy and society.
