Artificial intelligence (AI) products have been used in all sectors in Vietnam, such as public administration, transport, healthcare, banking and industries, in tandem with digital transformation.

The application of AI contributes to raising the efficiency of State mangement and the operation of businesses, helping them quickly adapt to developments of the ongoing pandemic.

Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Binh Duong are implementing administrative reforms to launch and speed up smart city projects to attract more foreign investors.

A robot enters a kitchen and a few minutes later brings drinks to diners. Many forms of payment and contactless transactions are quietly coming to life. And, going beyond this is the formation of smart cities.

Ho Chi Minh City aims to create a digital administration and become a smart city this year. The city’s leaders have pointed out the major areas of focus: governing the city in the new normal (post-pandemic), building databases and linking all databases related to governance, and finding new driving forces for future growth.

According to the Department of Information and Communications, the city will implement comprehensive technology solutions and exploit shared data to hasten economic recovery. The databases contain information about the public, enterprises, and land. The Department’s Director, Lam Dinh Thang, explained that the city would speed up digital transformation at governmental organisations and promote e-government to improve the efficiency and quality of public services.

A virtual workshop to review the pre-feasibility study for building a smart city in Da Nang took place on Wednesday between representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and leaders of the Da Nang government.

In his remarks at the online event, Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son highly appreciated the active support by MLIT and the research team from the Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. for Da Nang to implement the Smart City project supported by Japan ASEAN Mutual Partnership (Smart JAMP) through 3 sub-projects, namely a digital map, a smart urban in the Hi-Tech Park and a pilot public bike rental service.

HCM City plans to speed up digital transformation to achieve its goals of becoming a digital government and smart city this year.

City leaders have pointed out three major areas of focus: governing the city in the new situation (after the pandemic), building databases and linking all databases related to governance and reforming governance and finding new driving forces for future growth.
