By mid-2022, the Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) has implemented 36 projects of intelligent operation centers (IOC) in 32 provinces and cities nationwide, announced the group on September 1.

According to the report at the conference reviewing the group’s task performance in the first half of 2022, 67 percent of the digital transformation products developed by Viettel was used for public services.

South Korean giant retailer Lotte Group has revealed plans to build an eco-friendly ‘smart city’ complex, along with a separate ‘smart logistics’ hub in Vietnam.

On September 2, the group held the ground-breaking ceremony of Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem in the Thu Thiem new urban area of Ho Chi Minh City. It will invest around US$900 million in the project, according to local sources.

Lotte Holdings Co. Ltd. of the Republic of Korea on September 2 broke ground for Eco Smart City Thu Thiem - a multi-functional complex of commercial services, upmarket hotels and apartments - in Ho Chi Minh City.

The complex will sit on an area of 50,000m2 near the Thu Thiem New Urban Area of Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment capital of approximately VND20.1 trillion, equivalent to US$860 million).

Vietnam wishes to collaborate with the UN on digital transformation in both policy formulation and implementation, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the international organisation has stated.

At a September 1 meeting with Amandeep Singh Gill, UN Under-Secretary-General and Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology, the diplomat affirmed that Vietnam is willing to contribute to the UN's policies and strategies in the field, including an initiative on a global digital agreement in the Secretary-General's report on “Our Common Agenda”.

The Government’s Project 06 was implemented in the context of Ho Chi Minh City’s determination to apply the digital transformation program, build a smart city, and put a shared data warehouse into operation.

After more than 6 months of implementing Project 06, Ho Chi Minh City has had initial results, notably the preparation of realizing an information system to handle administrative procedures. The system is expected to be completed in October 2022.
