Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information Technology and Communications, HH Shaikh Mohammad bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, today received e-Government Authority CEO, Mohammad Ali Al-Qaed.

Deputy Premier congratulated e-Government Authority CEO on the honour delivered by Amir of Kuwait, HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jabir Al-Sabah, on the e-Government Portal (Bahrain.bh) winning HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award in its 14th session recently held in Kuwait.

The eGovernment Authority (eGA) held a ceremony to mark Bahrain's celebrations of its National Days on December 16 and 17, marking the anniversary of the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by its founder Ahmed Al-Fateh, the 43rd Anniversary of its accession to the UN as a full member and the 15th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Accession to the Throne.

eGA's CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed and a number of Directors and employees were present.

Coinciding with the Bahraini Women’s Day commemoration held on December 1st, eGovernment Authority (eGA) celebrated and honored its females employees, highlighting the important role of women in society and their significant influence in the development and cultural advancements of the Kingdom as well as their impact in the government and private sectors.

On this occasion, the Authority hosted a staff function for their females employees where Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Alkhaja Vice CEO of the eGovernment Authority, attended the function along with senior officials from the Authority. The female employees were awarded with gifts and tokens of appreciation.

An online passport renewal service was launched yesterday (December 11) by Bahrain’s Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) in conjunction with the e-Government Authority.

Bahrainis can now apply for passport renewals and enquire about their passport application status online at www.bahrain.bh, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The traffic department and e-Government Authority (eGA) really deserve big congratulations for making the annual renewal of vehicle registration so easy. The new online renewal facility is now available for vehicles satisfying two criteria (a) the vehicle must be not more than four years old and (b) insurance should be with one of the companies listed on the website. If both conditions are satisfied, the online form and payment process are very simple and the renewed 'token' is delivered by registered post within three to five days! All this without leaving your desk!

However, I request eGA to make one small improvement. When delivery option is selected as PO box, currently there is only one field to enter just a box number. This is okay for an individual having his own PO box.
