Astana is hosting the international conference and exhibition ASTEX-2014 on May 19-20, Tengrinews reports.

ASTEX is a platform for exchange of experience and discussion of communication market trends and technologies. The 2014 ASTEX focuses on e-commerce. In addition, the exhibition showcases the latest three-dimensional holographic imaging technology, virtual fitting room, 3D printers and other innovations of the global communication technology market. It is the second time ASTEX is held in Kazakhstan. It is organized by the Communication and Information Agency of Kazakhstan, national communication holding Zerde, and ICT Development Fund in partnership with mobile network operators Beeline, Kcell and Kazakhtelecom national company.

Today's devaluation of tenge in Kazakhstan has affected the work of the e-government website eGov.kz, Tengrinews reports citing the official Twitter account of electronic government in Kazakhstan.

“In view of today’s news, rgw payment service on the website is temporarily unavailable. We will inform you when the service will resume its work,” the tweet said.

The number of Kazakhs having computer skills and using the Internet comprised 10 million people (62.6 percent of the population) in 2012, the Transport and Communications Ministry reported on June 14.

"According to the latest ranking of the United Nations, Kazakhstan ranked second on 'e-participation index' among 192 countries (31st in 2005)," the statement reads.

Kazakhstan's capital city Astana will play host to the 2014 Global Forum on Electronic Government, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press service of the country’s Ministry of Transport and Communication.

The Forum was initiated by the United Nations after e-government has become widespread enough in the world and was held for the first time in 2012 in Seoul, South Korea.

South Korea also hosts the Global Forum this year, which is timed to coincide with the 7th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance spearheaded by the UN. The Forum gathered more than a thousand representatives of governmental authorities, businesses and international organizations from 40 countries.

The global trend has now arrived in Kazakhstan. Such service as interconnection appeals to Kazakhstan residents. Over the past 4 years the number of mobile Internet users has grown from 1 million to 10 million subscribers.

In the interview to the Kazakh TV channel representatives of Kazakhstan cellular companies have announced that the e-government will boost the development of next-generation networks. In the recent five years the e-government has undergone serious development. Some types of certificates are given only in electronic form.
