Kazakhstan is listed 39th in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018, the UN reported.

Now the country has 6 projects of "smart city" including Smart Nur-Sultan, Smart Almaty, Smart Aqkol, Smart Petropavl, Smart Aktobe и Smart Karaganda.

This week, TalTech and advanced Estonian companies will introduce in Kazakhstan their experience in digitalisation and the impact of the e-state on the economy and society in general. On 12 March, an international forum will take place on the initiative of Estonians in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, called ‘Digitisation: the Estonian experience’, where the Kazak public sector and representatives of companies will discuss the impact of the e-state and digital solutions on economic development and the use of Estonia’s success story in the programme ‘Digital Kazakhstan’.

Kazakhstan was ranked 39th in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018 with a very high level of E-Government Development Index. Kazakhstan’s E-Gov online service provided 30 million Government services in 2018, while the number of registered users exceeded 8.5 million people. Healthcare services are the most popular service on the website as Kazakh citizens used this service 70,000 times in just four months. The Government also focuses to create conditions for business development. Half of the 165 Government services provided exclusively online are licenses and permitting documents including subsidy permits. The Government is planning to add another 140 services online.

The International Expert Council on Digitisation discussed at its Jan. 31 meeting international practices in digital development, the role of e-government as well as how to nurture young talent and develop a startup culture.

The gathering also discussed economic sustainability in developing technology and the impact of innovation ecosystems on education and employment.

Chairman of the Board of the State Corporation “Government for Citizens” Ablaykhan Ospanov told about the use of biometrics in new developments of the Public Service Centers at the press conference following the Government meeting.

According to him, the biometric parameters of Kazakhstanis, which are provided voluntarily, can replace the digital signature when receiving a number of public services.
