The e-government portal presented five new services of Azerbaijan's Health Ministry.

The ministry said that these services include: the provision of a sanitary-epidemiological conclusion on the correspondence with the sanitary norms of radioactive substances and materials, devices, which are sources of the ionized radiation, conditions and methods of transportation of devices and radioactive waste.

Azerbaijan Marketing Society (AMC) which has been the partner of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in making The Global Competitiveness Report since 2006 announced the main reasons for phenomenal progress of the country in the published earlier Report for 2013-1014.

AMC chairman of board Rahim Huseynov informes that the Society, as a partner in conducting the business polls, can guarantee full objectivity of the research and rise in country competitiveness level reflects real estimations of the business environment by the business society.

A ceremony has today taken place to present President Ilham Aliyev with first biometric passport of the Azerbaijani citizen.

The last few years saw the government of Azerbaijan carry out considerable and effective work to ensure rapid economic development, improve the living standard and ensure people's social security, and remove bureaucratic barriers in public agencies. In this context, establishment of ASAN service, an innovative new agency aiming to make services more accessible for citizens, and application of other advanced services has been of critical importance. Introduction of a biometric passport is one of such significant steps.

The Science Development Fund under the President of Azerbaijan has allocated one million manats for financing competitive projects in the sphere of information and communication technologies (ICT), the Fund's Executive Director Elchin Babayev said on Thursday at a conference in Baku.

According to Babayev, the competition is being held jointly with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies. This is included in the plan of events approved in 2013 in connection with declaring this year as an ICT one.

Azerbaijan will adopt new standards on information and communication technologies (ICT) by the end of year, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies reported on Thursday.

The work is underway in accordance with an action plan for 2013, which was announced as ICT year.

Within the work it is also planned to prepare three standards on biometric technologies, four - on digital television, two - in the sphere of development of program products as well as two standards in the sphere of terminology.
