Ho Chi Minh City inaugurated Friday a web page to provide an electronic single-door system to serve the city’s administrative reform.

The site opened by the Post and Telecom Department, http://motcua.ict-hcm.gov.vn, provides information about the status of files in government offices and about housing and land, business registration, and others.

Vietnam ranks 105 out of 191 nations in accessibility and comprehensiveness of E-government, according to a report by the United Nations.

The result of the UN’s survey was announced by Mr Vu Duc Dam, Vice Minister of Posts and Telematics, at a workshop on E-government in Vietnam dubbed “Bridge linking Government, Enterprises and People” held on December 13.

Vietnam's e-Government (e-Gov) plan aims at increasing transparency and creating better public services for citizens, businesses and social organisations, affirmed a senior official of the Ministry of Post and Telematics.

Deputy Minister Vu Duc Dam was speaking at a symposium themed “E-Government -The Bridge for Government, Business and Citizens” which kicked off in Hanoi on December 13.

A conference and exhibition on e-government started yesterday in Hanoi, aiming to review an e-government development scheme in Vietnam and seek measures to develop e-government.

The two-day Vietnam e-Government Symposium 2006, themed “E-government – the bridge for government, businesses and citizens,” is organized by IDG Vietnam and the Hanoi Department of Post and Telematics.

Administrative reform is essential to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

He made the statement yesterday as the Govern-ment’s Steering Committee for Administrative Reform held a regular session, presided over by its head, Phan Van Khai, along with the PM.
