The Civil Service Department needs officers and staff who are creative, innovative, integrative and committed to ensure that the `organising culture' within the department is of high standard.

This was highlighted by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who was speaking during the commemoration of the Civil Service Day in Tutong District. It was held at the hall of the official residence of the Tutong district officer.

The revival of the Legislative Council and the Constitution Amendments will encourage and motivate civil service in the country to achieve higher levels of excellence and efficiency, Pehin Dato PadukaAwg Hj Hazair, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, said yesterday.

They will make the civil service in the country more transparent, accountable, and competitive and concentrate more on the customer and services focus, he told the 11th Civil Service Day 2004 yesterday.

A two-way discussion was held recently between the private and government sectors on how to do it best with e-Business technology.

During the dialogue, the private sector sought opportunities within the government sector to show their capabilities in e-project initiatives while the government sector discussed ways in which they could lend a helping hand.

The administration of Brunei Darussalam is looking to go paperless in 116 e-government projects next year.

By 2005, Brunei will be a Paperless Society pursuing 116 projects with 100 per cent expectations under its e-Government programmes, according to Awang Haji Umar Ali bin Haji Abdullah, Head of the Computer Services at the Ministry of Finance.

The usage of website is a step ahead towards the realisation of e-government in the Sultanate.

Pehin Dato Dr Haji Awang Hussein, the Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, stressed this in his official address at the launching of the registration disabled people throughout the country and the orientation and mobility workshop yesterday.
