Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has restated his administration’s commitment to fast-track development of infrastructure that would enhance its smart city project and optimise the limitless opportunity of a fully digitised economy.

The Governor stated this at the third annual stakeholders conference of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), themed: “Transforming Lagos State into a Smart City Hub in Africa – The Government’s Infrastructure Approach”, held at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Lagos State Government has emphasised the need for the state to be technology-driven to become a Smart City Hub in Africa, thereby measuring up with the demand of the 21st century.

The General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Bisola Coker-Odusote, who stated this, noted that the ministry’s third annual stakeholders’ conference, which will hold on October 4, was planned to set the government’s infrastructural approach to achieve the project.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is implementing projects to bring comfort to Lagosians, General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Mrs Bisoye Coker-Odusote, has said.

She spoke at a briefing to announce this year’s stakeholders’ conference: Transforming Lagos State into a Smart City Hub in Africa: The Government’s Infrastructure Approach.

Lagos state is one of the cities around the world that has attained the status of a mega city. However, like other mega cities of the world, Lagos is faced with many challenges such as poor waste management, transport problems, insecurity and food crises. Consequently, it needs to transform from a mega city status to a smart city wherein everything works seamlessly. Lagos needs to leverage technology to transform to a smart city.

This was the submissions suggested by professionals from transportation, housing, education, technology, media and other walks of life who assembled at the Techuncode and Vatebra Hub activation to discuss how technology can transform Lagos to a smart city.

The Lagos State Government has disclosed its plan to partner with the private sector on the smart city project through the use of innovation and technology.

The General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency, Bisoye Coker-Odusote, disclosed this on Tuesday, during a press briefing in Lagos.
