For Nigeria to achieve her digital economy agenda, there is need to invest in effective and efficient digital infrastructure, particularly edge cloud technologies, which offer cost savings, capacity to scale rapidly, advance cyber-security features and access to powerful analytical tools for processing big data.

The Director of Operations, Unitellas Edge Cloud, a provider of enterprise-grade edge cloud and IT infrastructure as a service, Blessing Omo, made this known at this year’s edition of the Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) EXPO held in Lagos.

Organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the two-day event with the theme “Ensuring Efficient Digital Infrastructure in Nigeria” was aimed at providing an opportunity to influence national discourse on digital infrastructure in Nigeria and also connect businesses and create opportunities.

“Edge Clouds are compact or modular data centres closer to where the end users utilise them. Edge Computing brings processing closer to the source of data and enables the unlocking of the value of data assets in real time for critical decision making,” she said.
