A human resource management information system will be implemented over the next two years in government departments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

The objective of the system, which is part of an e-government policy and is a project of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) of the Prime Minister�s Department, is to provide a single interface for government personnel to manage human resources in an integrated environment.

The Sarawak civil service has been given until 2008 to achieve full electronic-government (EG) status.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain said a full EG status would be indicated by the availability of all government services through virtual means

GOVERNMENT suppliers are enjoying brisk sales as a result of e-Perolehan, the electronic procurement system developed under the Multimedia Super Corridor's e-government flagship application project.

“Some suppliers are enjoying more than 40% increase in sales, some even more than 100%,” according to a statement issued at the e-Perolehan Consumer Day in Putrajaya.

Government departments and agencies will introduce the e-procurement system early next year, aimed at transforming the nation’s “bureaucracy-centred” government to a “citizen-centred” one.

Apart from saving money for the Government, e-procurement, which comes under the e-government service, will be able to replenish supplies quickly through electronic quotations.

THE government has asked selected companies to tender for the supply of IT applications and infrastructure for Malaysian courts in a bid to integrate court proceedings, as well as to bring greater efficiency to the judicial system.

Sources said the companies were asked to tender for the supply of an integrated computer system for the courts covering case management, court recordings and management of transcriptions, as well as such IT infrastructure as local area connectivity.
