GOVERNMENT suppliers are enjoying brisk sales as a result of e-Perolehan, the electronic procurement system developed under the Multimedia Super Corridor's e-government flagship application project.

“Some suppliers are enjoying more than 40% increase in sales, some even more than 100%,” according to a statement issued at the e-Perolehan Consumer Day in Putrajaya.

IT would normally have to be something quite extraordinary to impress Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, the Chief Secretary to the Government, but not so when he visited a primary school recently. c The incident would seem a simple one, but it left a deep impression on him when some pupils came running up to him, eager to show him how they could operate the computers in the school.

THE government has asked selected companies to tender for the supply of IT applications and infrastructure for Malaysian courts in a bid to integrate court proceedings, as well as to bring greater efficiency to the judicial system.

Sources said the companies were asked to tender for the supply of an integrated computer system for the courts covering case management, court recordings and management of transcriptions, as well as such IT infrastructure as local area connectivity.

CYBERJAYA: The second phase of the Multimedia Super Corridor, to take the project nationwide and create more knowledge workers, was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad last night.

Dr Mahathir said the second phase would involve expanding the MSC to other cyber cities in the country, and, later, various parts of the world.
