The government will engage with city mayors in all states in the coming months to discuss and formulate a cooperation plan for smart city initiatives.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said discussions among all states are crucial to compile a comprehensive overview of existing services and initiatives and to identify how each state can adopt and adapt successful smart city initiatives from other states.

The Sarawak government has reaffirmed its commitment to digital transformation, with the Premier of Sarawak lauding Miri’s efforts in advancing its Smart City agenda.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian during a gala dinner commemorating the 20th anniversary of Miri’s city status, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg praised the northern Sarawak city’s progress.

The Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) is strengthening community involvement in urban development through the rebranded Smart City Friends programme.
Formerly known as the Rakan Bandaraya initiative introduced in 2002, the programme is now open to all segments of society, including students from higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trader communities, neighbourhood watch groups, senior citizens, youth and the general public.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is actively implementing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various aspects of smart city management, with two main initiatives highlighted: digital twin and AI-powered traffic management.
The Digital Ministry said the digital twin initiative is a virtual city model that allows real-time simulations to be used for more effective urban planning and faster emergency responses.

In a significant leap towards sustainable urban transformation, six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on Wednesday, heralding a new era for the ambitious Kenyalang Smart City (KSC) project here.
The agreements were executed by Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd, led by chairman Teo Ah King, in collaboration with a consortium of prominent companies, including the China Energy Engineering Group Guangxi Electric Power Design Institute Co. Ltd, Shandong Yutong Road and Bridge Group Co. Ltd, Shandong Tianhua Industry Co. Ltd, Shandong Dawang Energy Development Co. Ltd, and UBlok Advanced Materials Co. Ltd.
