Gamuda Bhd group managing director Datuk Lin Yun Ling talks about the group’s journey towards zero-carbon, and why the transition has to be a collective effort on the part of all stakeholders.

In recent years, countries around the world, led by the US, the European Union (EU) and China, have accelerated their transition to the green economy to tackle the devastating effects of climate change. As these countries rev up their commitments to transforming to low-carbon, resource-efficient and socially inclusive economies, it will be only a matter of time before it becomes imperative for other countries and economic sectors to follow suit, particularly if it is a prerequisite to doing business.

Censof Holdings Bhd is collaborating with Microsoft as one of its partners to advance the digital transformation of Malaysia’s key industries, including the public sector.

Under the collaboration Censof will be working together with Microsoft for its Government Resource Planning (GRP) system, which will run on Microsoft Azure.

The percentage of households having access to the Internet has increased to 91.7 per cent in 2020 from 90.1 per cent in 2019, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) today.

Chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said access to mobile phones and computers also increased to 98.6 per cent and 77.6 per cent, respectively, in 2020.

More Malaysian users have opted for internet services related to e-Learning, e-Health, e-Government, e-Commerce and e-Entertainment in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Access to mobile phone and computer by households also increased to 98.6 per cent and 77.6 per cent respectively in 2020, according to the Department of Statistics.

Federal Territories Ministry has launched a blueprint to guide local authorities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan towards better efficiency in their service as well as to achieve a smart city status by 2030.

Its minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said MySmart Wilayah 2030 would outline 25 policies encompassing seven major components: smart governance, smart economy, smart living, smart environment, smart people, smart mobility and smart infrastructure.
