The government’s plan to allow the foreign worker re-employment scheme is a positive development for MyEG Services Bhd, according to CGS-CIMB Research.

The brokerage said the development would improve MyEG’s job-matching business prospects and potentially leverage on its one-stop Covid-19 screening portal.

CGS-CIMB reiterated “add” on MyEG, with an unchanged target price of RM1.80, based on 24 times forward earnings.

The Covid-19 pandemic may have delayed the rollout of the fifth generation (5G) of mobile networks (a crucial enabler of digitalisation) in some countries for various reasons but at the same time, it has highlighted the need to fast-forward its adoption.

At a time when “the less contact the better” is becoming a common practice, the need for the kind of high-speed high bandwidth connectivity that 5G promises has become even more crucial.

The Sarawak government has drawn up a five-year development master plan to transform Kuching into a metropolis and smart city, Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg said.

He said the plan will identify commercial areas to be redeveloped in places supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU).

Malaysia ranks 41st for digital quality of life in 2020 ahead of its neighbours Thailand which ranks 63rd and Indonesia in the 71st position.

In the study covering 81% of the global population (6.3 billion people) released today by Cyprus-based Surfshark Ltd, Malaysia is among 13 countries in the Digital Quality of Life Index 2020 (DQL Index 2020) that exceed the expected digital quality of life by providing higher levels of electronic-infrastructure (e-infrastructure) and e-government than expected of their gross domestic product (GDP) levels.

The pandemic has certainly put a focus on healthcare and health-related products and services.

But there is still a way to go to increase the adoption of health tech in Malaysia which may slow the trajectory towards digitalisation in the space, particularly in areas such as telemedicine and teleconsultation, which are considered as an efficient way for doctors to reach out to their patients.
