Dubai Municipality's one-stop Customer Service Centre has started registration and sale of e-Dirham Cards, issued by the Ministry of Finance and Industry for the government client, a senior civic official announced.

According to Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, Director of Municipality Centres Department, the service would boost online payments from customers who use the civic body's more than 70 electronic services offered through the e-government website.

Free training on basic e-mail and internet applications will be offered to citizens and residents who sign up with the eCitizen programme by tomorrow.

Dubai residents are offered free computer literacy training offered on a first-come-first-served basis, through the different computer schools in the emirate. The seven-day registration for free instruction kicked off on March 19.

The federal authorities have launched a web site that aims to be an 'electronic gateway' to government information and services.

The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Finance and Industry (MoFI) has officially launched phase one of its 'e-Portal'. The initial phase establishes an e-government single-entry portal, presents high-level introductory content, and provides links to participating ministries and related portals.

The Ministry of Finance and Industry has launched a customer satisfaction survey in order to gauge its industrial customers' opinion about its various services including the electronically conducted transactions, said Jamal Nasser Lutah, assistant undersecretary for industrial affairs.

"We are interested to know our stakeholders' opinions and comments about our services in order to improve them on regular basis," said Jamal Naser Lootah.

Dubai eGovernment has announced a special promotion of its, instructor-led, cost effective eCitizen certification programme, which has been designed to increase the level of e-literacy among the residents of Dubai.

The registration period begins from 19th to 25th March, 2005, residents will be given the opportunity to learn the basic Personal Computer (PC) and internet skills and become acquainted with Government Department online services.
