The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) has continued to successfully introduce eServices, bringing the total number of services it offers online to 25. Citizens, residents and visitors to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi can now benefit from an efficient single point of online access to environmental services.

The online portal has been delivering convenient and speedy services and information, as well as offering transactional services. Some of the services that have been offered include fishing and marine licenses, falcon passports and CITES permits. Information services such as environmental laws and regulations; technical documents; announcements; events organized by EAD and publications were also made available online through the portal.

The Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) conducted a workshop to train employees in charge of implementing the new Customer Complaints System in the public sector.

The session was addressed by Ahmad Bin Byat, Secretary General of the Executive Council, Salem Khamees Al Shaer, Director of Dubai e-government, and Ahmad Nuseirat, General Coordinator of Dubai Government Excellence Programme.

Dubai Police, Emirates airline and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry were honoured for their outstanding e-services at a special awards ceremony in Ajman yesterday.

His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Mervat M Tallawy, Under-Secretary-General of the UN, and Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, Director General of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP), were present at the ceremony.

The 2nd UAE eGovernment Projects and eServices Summit, organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, was attended by over 70 delegates from eGovernment committees, government regulatory authorities and eServices project offices from and around the UAE.

The two-day summit, which concluded here yesterday, stressed the need for the establishment of a common UAE level eGovernment portal that can integrate e-initiatives across the nation. The forum exhorted eGovernment decision-makers to seriously discuss the idea and bring it into reality. A joint effort for eServices will help cut costs through use of IT and better collaboration, speakers at the forum said.

The Dubai Police Academy’s Administrative Science and Security Studies Institution is conducting a five-day forum on using information technology and the Internet in governance.

More than fifty experts in computer science and information technology are participating in the E-City forum being held in coordination with the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development.
