Dubai Police, Emirates airline and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry were honoured for their outstanding e-services at a special awards ceremony in Ajman yesterday.

His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, Mervat M Tallawy, Under-Secretary-General of the UN, and Ali Bin Abdulla Al Hamrani, Director General of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP), were present at the ceremony.

Organised by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, the ceremony aimed to bring to the fore the best UAE organisations that provide e-services to meet customers’ needs successfully.

Speaking about the awards, Ali Al Kamali, Chairman of the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, said, “A portal is more than simply a Web interface to business content. The awards highlight the best portals and organisations that make a real difference in the services using advanced online technologies.”

This year’s winners in various categories were given awards. Dubai Police was declared the Best UAE e-Government Service Provider while Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry was honoured for its portal that offered the best online services to residents. The award committee selected the Emirates airline’s portal as the best UAE e-Business portal.

The portal enabled the airline to optimise its business operations and business relationships by allowing external trading partners, key clients and business users to collaborate and share information via a personalised Web interface.
