  • India: Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik launches e-payment of Commercial Taxes in state

    The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launches e-payment of Commercial Taxes in the state in a glittering function arranged here at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar on Thursday . The corporates , Traders, Professionals will now be able to pay their taxes like VAT, CST, OST, Professional Taxes, Entry taxes, and Entertainment Taxes online through the website of State Bank of India i.e. onlinesbi.com.

  • India: Orissa: Naveen launches e-payment facility

    Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched an e-payment facility for commercial taxes as part of citizen- centric services in the State through the State Bank of India (SBI) portal.

    Addressing a function to mark the occasion, the Chief Minister said that this will go a long way in the implementation of e-governance in tax administration of the State. He said that full scale preparation is going on for introducing e-filing of return, e-registration, e-generation of statutory forms and e-refund through its own portal by the Commercial Tax Department in future.

  • India: Orissa: Power utilities pave way for e-payment of bills

    Very soon payment of electricity bills will be a click away. The four power distribution companies - CESU, Nesco, Southco and Wesco - today signed memoranda of understanding with the Government for providing online bill payment facility to the citizens through common service centres.

    More than 4,000 common service centres are already operational in the State and another 7,500 centres will be in place during the next six months, said Minister of State for Energy Atanu Sabyasachi after signing of the MoUs.

  • India: Pay property tax at click of a mouse

    The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is now ready with the software which will allow people to make payment of property tax online. This brand new portal will be available from Sunday onwards.

    ‘‘The webiste is in place and people can log on to the new portal — www.mcdpropertytax.in — and file their property tax returns online starting from Sunday,’’ said assessor and collector, MCD A K Ambasht.

  • India: Punjab: Ludhiana: Pay bills sitting at home

    Residents can pay their water supply, sewerage bills and house tax from their home only with the decision of the civic bodies to launch e-governance in the city.

    Facing a tough time in paying their bills in the Municipal Corporation offices, the residents would not have to wait in long queues for making their payments. The authorities have invited tenders from banks, who would provide them net-banking facility. In the meantime officers have also started the facility on its website from where the residents could easily get information about their monthly bills. They just have to click at the MC's official website www.mcludhiana.com and fill their identification number to get information about the bill amount. The ID number is printed on the bill dispatched on their address.

    Mobile payment companies are bullish on the prospects for m-commerce.

    With the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) doubling the cap on mobile transactions, mobile payment companies are bullish on the prospects for m-commerce — especially in the rural unbanked space.

    The RBI recently increased the daily transaction limit for cash transactions from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 and the daily transaction limit for goods and services from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. Companies reason that as the metropolitan users are equipped with card-based payments and the Internet, rural deployment becomes more significant for them. Over 30 per cent of the new mobile subscriptions every month come from villages.

    Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is going to launch its upgraded web portal on September 14 for the purpose

    Soon, residents of Haryana will be able to make their payments online for all their property-related deals as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is going to launch its new web portal on September 14.

    “The portal will enable the residents of Haryana to make online payments, directly through the bank account and also by way of credit cards. With the launch of this facility, the HUDA will become the lead development authority in the country to have implemented such a programme,” Haryana Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati said.

  • India: Tamil Nadu: Soon, e-payment facility at RTOs to erase middlemen

    In a move aimed at eliminating middlemen and removing irregularities at regional transport offices (RTOs), the state government has decided to introduce e-payment facilities for vehicle registration and driving licences, vehicle permits and fitness certificates.

    According to official sources, the facility will first be introduced for registration of vehicles by dealers and then extended to payments pertaining to licences, permits and fitness certificates by the public. Transport minister K N Nehru is likely to inaugurate the system in November.

  • India’s payment gateway to be linked to UID numbers

    The move will allow customers to use their 12-digit Aadhar numbers and fingerprints as banking passwords

    The National Payments Corp. of India (NPCI) plans to link Rupay, its soon-to-be-launched domestic payment gateway on the lines of global gateways such as Visa and MasterCard, with the unique identification programme Aadhaar.

    The move will allow customers to use their Aadhaar identity - a unique set of 12 numbers that would be issued to all residents of the country - and their fingerprints registered under Aadhaar as their banking password.

    India is on the cusp of a digital revolution. India has adopted digitalisation in all spheres, but technology policy and infrastructure are slipping behind this growth.

    The telecom industry that is building the requisite digital backbone for India is struggling. The sector once witnessed fierce competition with ten mobile operators but has now consolidated to . Mobile operators will pay more than US$20 billion to the government after a long litigated regulatory fee settlement issue. This leaves most operators with nothing to invest in 5G and other future technologies.

  • Indian Railways Boosts Digital Payments, Online Services

    To promote the Digital India initiative in the Indian Railways, a statutory board of the Ministry of Railways, the government is encouraging passengers to purchase food through digital methods via catering units at railway stations. 8,878 static units have digital payment facilities, a press release has stated.

    Additionally, the government has provided handheld point of sale (PoS) machines at catering units to generate printed bills and invoices reflecting all details of transactions undertaken and to address complaints of overcharging. At present, 30,81 PoS machines are available on 596 trains. 4,316 static units have been provided with PoS machines.

  • Indian state Haryana launches e-payment for road tax

    Transport Department of Haryana State last week launched a new web portal aimed to be an e-payment gateway and provide other online services to citizens such as road tax, licenses and other registering related to transport.

    Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister of Haryana State said that the new website with e-services would benefit citizens greatly and will bring in more transparency in the department’s operation.

  • Indian state of Kerala launches e-payment gateway

    Kerala State Government in India has introduced an e-payment gateway, enabling citizens to pay for various utility bills from one common online platform.

    The gateway falls under the National Payment Services Platform (NPSP) which was launched by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) as part of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). NPSP aims to provide payment gateway services for e-governance projects. It is to support a complete transactional experience for citizens using the Government’s various online services.

  • Indian state Uttar Pradesh unveils e-payment portal for entrepreneurs

    The government of Uttar Pradesh, a northern state in India, has launched an online payment portal in a bid to make public transactions paperless.

    State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner V N Garg launched the portal, called Nivesh Mitra, which has a user-friendly interface with online payment facility and other unique features for facilitating quicker processing of matters relating to entrepreneurs and investors.

    The e-payment portal accessible at www.udyogbandhu.org also assists entrepreneurs for getting clearances from 12 government departments.

  • Indonesia tests e-Billing for tax payments

    In order to minimise human error and cut the queues short, Indonesia’s Directorate General of Tax (DJP), Ministry of Finance has introduced electronic billing for tax payments or e-Billing.

    Although currently in testing mode, registered individual and corporate taxpayers can begin to take advantage of the service. They will need to register at sse.pajak.go.id using their Tax Identification Number (TIN). Upon registration, users can fill out their personal details which will be stored by the system, and can then obtain a billing code from the system.

    Seamus Brennan, Minister for Social Welfare and Family Affairs, has revealed that a review of the department's methods of paying customers is underway, with a view to identify a payment system that would be flexible, cost-effective and would take account of the needs of social welfare recipients.

  • JO: SSS Process develops e-payment system 'e-Tasdeed'

    Jordan’s SSS Process has developed the e-payment system, 'e-Tasdeed,' which seeks to link together banks, government institutions, and national companies through a secure interface, enabling citizens to pay liabilities and settle their regular monthly bills.

    Instead of having multiple e-payment systems built and launched individually by Jordanian companies, 'e-Tasdeed' will serve as a single, unified platform that caters to the needs of all companies and institutions while being directly interfaced with core banking and credit card systems, unlike the previous solutions which used to be technically complicated and limitedly useful.
