  • Mastercard signs MoU with Tunisian Post to develop new digital financial services

    MoU was signed by Moez Chakchouk, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tunisian Post and Khalid Elgibali, Division President, Middle East and North Africa, Mastercard, at a ceremony held at the Social Headquarter of the Tunisian Post, under the auspices of H.E. Mohammed Anwar Maarouf, Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy, Tunisia, with the presence of a number of executives representing the two institutions and members of the local media.

    Building on decades of cooperation between the two organizations, the collaboration will enable the Tunisian Post to introduce innovative and safe solutions for electronic payments for the benefit of individuals and SMEs, allowing them to use financial services round-the-clock via the Tunisian Post’s electronic payment system and particularly, the prepaid e-DINAR Smart Card.

    The gradual but steady migration of payments from cash to cards and other electronic modes is opening up huge business opportunities for Network International which leads the Middle East and Africa region by far with a combined revenue, five times larger than its closest competitor.

    The company processed more than 600 million transactions in 2015, amounting to Dh91 billion in acquiring volumes.   • MP state first in India to introduce online tax payment & dealer point registration facility

    Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated online tax payment and dealer point registration service in the Transport Department at the State secretariat. He also gave first authorised dealer point registration certificate to Charanjeet Nagpal of Gwalior.

    Chouhan while addressing the people associated to the transport occupation and automobile dealers said that e-governance is must for good governance. The facility would save time and would enable them to deposit tax and to get the registration number from their offices itself. Also, transparency in the system can be maintained by this facility to curb the corruption. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to introduce the online tax payment and dealer point registration facility, he claimed.

  • MY E.G. becomes platform to perform online zakat fitrah for six states

    Muslims in six states can now perform their zakat fitrah or "personal tithe" online during the holy month of Ramadan this year via MY E.G. Services Bhd’s (MYEG) platform following the imposition of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

    MYEG executive director Datuk Raja Munir Shah Raja Mustapha said, as the leader in e-government services, it was pleased with the participation of these six zakat agencies to enable individuals to perform their zakat fitrah compared with the usual face-to-face method.

  • MY: Penang hawkers go cashless with Touch ‘n Go eWallet

    Merchant stalls in key heritage streets around George Town, Penang, are now equipped with Touch ‘n Go eWallet that officially enables Penangites to experience and enjoy cashless transactions at various bazaars and night markets.

    Officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Touch ‘n Go eWallet will be available across stalls and hawker joints in George Town such as Chowrasta Market, Armenian Street, Nagore Street and areas in Pulau Tikus and Tanjung Tokong. The eWallet users will be able to shop by simply scanning the QR code of the merchants without the need to deal with bulky wallets or change.

  • MyPay Launches its Government Digital Payments Platform

    Home-grown tech company Dapat Vista announced the official launch of its government e-payments service, MyPay.

    They first announced they foray into the market in January 2019 when they launched the beta version of their service, the company started out as a SMS service provider for various government departments and agencies since 2000.

  • MyPay to offer eWallet and digital financing in partnership with Bank Islam and FassPay

    MyPay, the eGovernment service platform by Dapat Vista (M) Sdn Bhd will soon offer digital payments, digital financing and eWallet features. They have just announced a collaboration with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) and Fass Payment Solutions Sdn Bhd (Fasspay).

    Dapat Vista which previously allowed PTPTN borrowers to check on their education loan status via SMS at 15888 has recently transitioned the feature to MyPay mobile payment system. According to PTPTN Chief Executive Encik Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, the venture between the two parties has helped to encourage consistent payment and deposits among PTPTN borrowers and SSPN depositors.

    The National Government Strategies (NeGSt) today commenced the process of standardising all payment systems in the country.

    NeGSt Executive Vice Chairman Olu Agunloye said at a premier session on eReadiness for government ministries, departments and agencies today in Abuja that the process would lead to the introduction of e Payment in the country.

    Die Europäische Union hat eine neue Direktive zur Ausgabe von elektronischem Geld (PDF-Datei, englische Version) verabschiedet, die den Einsatz elektronischer Bezahlverfahren erleichtern soll. Sie tritt am 1.11.2009 in Kraft.

    Die Direktive setzt die hohen Anforderungen an die Ausgeber von elektronischem Geld außer Kraft, die in einer ersten Regelung aus dem Jahre 2000 festgelegt worden waren. Künftig muss ein Finanzdienstleister, der elektronisches Geld ausgeben will, nur noch ein Eigenkapital von 350.000 Euro nachweisen. Dafür dürfen die Geldbeträge, die elektronische Geräte wie Computer, Smartcard oder Mobiltelefon lokal speichern oder auf dem Nutzerkonto in einer zentralen Datenbank gespeichert sind, den Gesamtbetrag von 250 Euro nicht überschreiten. Insgesamt darf ein einzelner Anwender nicht mehr als 2500 Euro elektronisches Geld im Verlauf eines Kalenderjahres transferieren.

  • New Cashless Payment Program of Azerbaijan to cover term of 2012-16

    "We plan to submit a ready draft program to the government to be designed for the period of 2012-16.

    A task set before the Ministry of Taxes and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan to prepare the proposals to encourage cashless payments and develop the payment system has been transformed into a special state program.

    CBA first deputy chairman Alim Guliyev informs that the latest draft of the program was prepared by the Central Bank and its discussion with the banks is under way.

    The new UAE e-government web portal will now help residents and tourists to pay bills and traffic fines, amongst other e-government services offered in the website.

    UAE residents will be able to access a wide range of services from a variety of government departments and also keep informed about changes in government policy, newly released statistics and information.

    The e-portal’s services include the online payment of Zakat, water and electricity bills and traffic violations, in addition to the issuance of licences, certificates, and documents by a number of governmental bodies.

  • NG: Aregbesola: E-Payment Has Enhanced Revenue Generation In Osun

    The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has again explained how the state government has continued to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to N1.5 billion every month with the deployment of electronic payment technology (E-Payment).

    Speaking at the recent Africa Digital Forum 2013, with the theme “Deepening eGovernance, Transparency with Broadband Access”, Aregbesola disclosed that Osun state generated so much revenue on monthly basis with the support of its E-Payment system, and insisted that state and federal governments could do same by blocking financial leakages in public sector through the deploying appropriate technology.

    The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has commenced electronic payment to suppliers, taxes, salaries and pensions nationwide today.

    The action was taken to save cost for government, promote transparency and accountability in governance and increase internally generated revenue (IGR) for the country.

    The e-payment is also expected to ensure confidentiality of information of e-payment of taxes, salary, pension and suppliers.

  • NG: E-Payment: ICPC To Fish Out Ghost Workers In MDAs

    The Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), Mr.Ekpo Nta has said that the ICPC has started a check on e-governance system’s mode of salary payment in order to uncover sharp practices in payroll and fish out ghost workers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government. Nta disclosed this on Issues Of The Moment, an NTA International interview programme monitored in Abuja.

    He disclosed that operatives of ICPC were already in the fields visiting various banks to check whether the “person whose name is on the nominal roll and on the payroll in a particular ministry, is the same person who is receiving it in the bank”.
