  • KE: Public entities lag in embracing mobile money

    State ministries, departments and agencies are dragging their feet in adopting mobile money platforms compared to private entities, a government-sponsored survey suggested yesterday.

    The inaugural ICT Enterprise Report shows that only 19.2 per cent of the public institutions have mobile money accounts compared to 73.3 per cent in the private firms.

  • Kenya govt to automate payments to stop revenue leaks

    Kenya will adopt a paperless payment system to stop revenue leakages in its system.

    According to ICT Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, the process shall be complete by April 2, 2014 and is aimed at improving accountability, efficiency and transparency in Government transactions and prevent revenue leaks,

    He said electronic payments have been proven to boost economic growth, while advancing financial inclusion.

  • Kenya: Online payments to boost tourism

    Lack of online payment systems is hampering the effective implementation of E-tourism in the country.

    Tourism Trust Fund Chief Executive Dr Dan Kagagi said Kenya should legalise electronic payment to make E-tourism a reality.

    "It is difficult to make online payments in Kenya and we have to go overseas for the facilities," he said.

  • Kenyan mobile money transactions rise to Kshs 1.7 trillion

    Kenyans have made 661.6 million transactions value at 1.7 trillion shillings through mobile money transactions between July and September.

    According to a Communications Authority first quarter report for financial year 2019/2020 the increase of mobile money services was driven by increased access to mobile network signal and exciting product offers by the telecos that pushed mobile penetration to 112 percent.

  • KR: Online purchases without certificates available

    ‘New rules will help diversify online payment methods'

    Customers will be able to make large purchases from Korean electronics commerce services without downloading public key certificates starting Tuesday.

    In Korea, customers had been required to use a public key, which is bound to an individual and used to produce digital signatures for financial transactions such as online banking and buying products priced at 300,00 won or higher.

  • Kuwait, K-Net sign agreement for e-payment of fees

    The Finance Ministry signed Thursday an agreement with K-Net whereby the latter will offer electronic payment services for collecting state fees, in a step toward transforming to the e-government system.

    The contract was signed by Finance Undersecretary Khalifa Hamada and K-Net General Manager Hasan Akbar.

    Speaking after the signing of the agreement, Hamada said electronic payment of government fees would be made available at individual points-of-sale and self-service electronic stations, as well as through the interest and mobile phones.

  • Kuwait: Ministry launches e-payment system

    Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Bader Al-Shuraiaan has officially inaugurated his ministry's new online bill payment service. Speaking at a news conference held to mark the launch at the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) headquarters, the minister said that the introduction of the online services, which the ministry began implementing five months ago, were designed to facilitate bill payment and preserve public funds.

    The service is the first step in the ministry's implementation of the 'e-government' program initiated by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, the minister explained.

  • KW: E-gate collected KD 4,986 mln in 1st half of ''12

    An estimate of 87,000 transactions were carried out through the state-owned electronic payment system (Tasdeed) in the first half of 2012, bringing the amount collected to KD 4,986 million, Director of e-government gate at the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Dr. Ittihad Al-Bahar said on Sunday.

    Al-Bahar told KUNA that the state's official e-gate saw 1,483 visitors in the first half of 2012, compared to 896 visitors of the same period last year; an increase of 65%.

  • KW: MoJ launches new digital service for civil fine payments via ‘Sahel’ app

    In a significant move towards digital transformation, the Ministry of Justice has launched a new service allowing citizens to pay civil fines through the “Sahel” application. The announcement was made by Dr. Muhammad Al-Wasmi, the Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

    According to a statement on the Ministry’s official “X” account, this new service enables users to view their outstanding cases requiring payment of civil fines. Once the fines are paid in full, any transaction restrictions imposed due to these fines will be lifted.

    MGTO is gradually proceeding with online payment services, starting with payment procedures for tour guide card renewal and enrolment to join promotional activities.

    Residents will soon be able to pay assessment and other related bills to all the 15 local councils in Perak via the Internet.

    State Urban and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Chang Ko Youn said the state government had allocated some RM400,000 to the local councils to set up the database.

    “The residents will be able to make payment for assessment and other services from anywhere in the world.

  • Malta: Electronic transactions gather pace

    The government is aiming to improve trust in e-commerce and yesterday announced partnership with HSBC Bank under which holders of HSBC debit cards (QuickCash) can now use and transact business related to eGovernment.

    Investment Minister Austin Gatt said more people were making financial transactions with the government electronically. While in 2003 there had been over 8,500 transactions on the payment gateway, the number during last year rose to 150,000. This year the number is expected to go up to 250,000.
