The implementation of national e-Health systems will provide greater efficiency in health care, workforce productivity and better management of resources in the GCC, said a Deloitte Middle East whitepaper.

The whitepaper entitled ‘Middle East public sector - National necessities: e-Health’, sheds light on the GCC countries that are facing a rise in the incidence of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases, which have accompanied improved living standards and life expectancy in recent years.

About 90 per cent of diseases in the UAE continue to be caused by chronic lifestyle-induced conditions and injuries, it said.

On the sidelines of the UN Public Service Forum 2013, currently hosted by the kingdom, a workshop on "the Initiatives of GCC States towards e-Government and Sustainable Public Services" was organised.

During the workshop, which focused on GCC countries' experience in promoting e-Government, the participants discussed GCC policies in the field of smart government and plans to establish a unified e-Government Portal for the member states.

Workshop urges establishing integrated platform to share knowledge and experiences

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) participants at a public service and eGovernment workshop in Manama have agreed to expand public service provision for people with special needs.

The expansion will be achieved through a policy that uses various communication tools to enhance access to all segments of society, in line with the international standards.

GCC e-Government experiences will be highlighted at global event

The heads of e-Governments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are set to use a global forum in Bahrain to share the experience of their countries and their way to develop e-Government.

The workshop “GCC Initiatives Towards eGovernment and Sustainable Public Services” will highlight how the six member states set up a standard network and electronic portal for the GCC states, organisers of the United Nations Public Service Forum 2013, a global gathering revolving around the achievements and challenges of public service, said.
