GCC e-Government experiences will be highlighted at global event

The heads of e-Governments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are set to use a global forum in Bahrain to share the experience of their countries and their way to develop e-Government.

The workshop “GCC Initiatives Towards eGovernment and Sustainable Public Services” will highlight how the six member states set up a standard network and electronic portal for the GCC states, organisers of the United Nations Public Service Forum 2013, a global gathering revolving around the achievements and challenges of public service, said.

The forum, from June 24-27, is expected to draw 600 delegates from 94 countries to Bahrain, the fourth country in the world and the first in the Middle East to host and organise the gathering outside the UN premises in New York since its launch ten years ago.

The event will feature two plenary sessions on the first day, seven workshops and two special meetings that will discuss the partnership for innovation in public governance, and essential leadership capacities and actions to promote transformational government.

According to organisers, the first session will focus on the critical role of innovation in public governance for the promotion of social inclusive development while the second session will address transformative eGovernment and innovation: empowering People for inclusive economic growth and environment protection. Workshops will address collaborative e-governance through innovation and technology, the transfer and adaptation of innovative practices for improved public service delivery in the least developed countries, fostering participation in the context of post-2015 development agenda and transforming public service delivery to advance gender equality.

The other workshops will highlight creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and economic development through innovation and e-government and the leadership for transformational government.
