Healthcare Providers Can Enhance Patient Care and Reduce Costs with Sensors, Robotics, Big Data Analytics, and Wearables Showcased at GITEX Technology Week

With GCC healthcare IT spending set to top USD 550 million in 2015, healthcare providers must anticipate the next wave of healthcare technology to enhance patient care and reduce costs, industry experts announced today in the build-up to GITEX Technology Week 2015.

European efforts show the importance of telecommunication and cutting costs to the growing digital economy

Information technology, data, and transactions processed through smart devices are increasingly gaining economic, social and cultural dimensions, thus affecting all walks of life and reflecting on the economic and social progress on one hand, and on people’s lives on the other one.

The more means of communication are available to a larger social group at affordable prices; the more number of people are engaged in public life. This will also allow for cutting costs and allocating more resources for development, while reducing pollution to preserve the environment.

The GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee successfully launched the e-Government Portal for the GCC countries, which was developed by the General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) during its fourth meeting held in Doha on Tuesday 24th March.

The GCC e-Government Portal provides content in both Arabic and English and was designed in accordance with international standards and the new global practices and trends such as the promotion of e-participation and access to open government data. The portal offers information on e-government programs for GCC countries and provides direct links to e-services offered by the member state's portals. Moreover it provides a special section featuring the most important events and news in each country and updates related to the General Secretariat in addition to information about the Guidelines Strategy of the e-Government and its initiatives such as the GCC e-Government Conference and Exhibition Award among others.

The GCC states yesterday launched their first joint e-government portal that enables them to provide unified electronic services to citizens and expatriates and facilitate easier and faster exchange of information.

Citizens and expatriates in the member countries can avail of various services at the portal, especially those related to customs, traffic department and transport , establishment of business and companies , participation in tenders, among others, a senior official has disclosed.
