The Gulf Cooperation e-Government Executive Committee will convene tomorrow (February18) for its 15th periodic meeting in Doha, Qatar. The delegations will discuss a follow-up of the joint initiatives featuring in the e-Government strategy, the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) that supports the distribution and identification of public encryption keys.

GCC countries have dominated a key information and communications technology (ICT) index, it has been revealed.

International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certification programme in Egypt, GCC states and Iraq, has expanded on the findings of the 2014 report published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), pointing out the outstanding performance of the GCC countries in the survey.

Arab governments are adopting innovative government services to drive Smart Cities and global competitiveness, according to new reports by the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government and SAP.

Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) and SAP have been jointly working on three strategic areas: Social Media, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment of the Arab Youth, as well as the "Arab Government Services Outlook 2014" and "Innovations from Across the Arab World" series of case studies, which were published under the patronage of the UAE Prime Minister's Office in the Government Summit held earlier this year. The two organizations also collaborated to host the Smart Cities Forum that MBRSG held in June 2014.

The officials of the e-government agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council convened here Monday to complete preparations for the unified GCC government e-gate.

"The meeting tackled a number of proposals and projects relevant to the unified GCC e-gate," Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Abdullatif Al-Sarea told reporters on the sidelines of the Kuwait-hosted 14th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council government e-gate.

GCC e-Government Portal is set for the launch in early 2015, said Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, CEO of Bahrain’s e-Government Authority (EGA).

According to the Bahrain News Agency, Al-Qaed told Al-Ayam newspaper that the All-GCC e-Portal would provide a connection of services needed by GCC citizens whenever travelling within the GCC countries. The portal will include official data from GCC-member countries in addition to the e-Government’s objectives and strategy.
