The US stands ready to sponsor, support and share its experience in building smart cities with Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius said.
Ted Osius made the statement at a workshop on Vietnam-US cooperation in developing smart cities jointly held by the Vietnam Ministry of Information and Communications, the US Embassy in Vietnam, and the US Trade and Development Agency in Hanoi on June 21-22.

Microsoft Vietnam has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to develop the south-central beach city of Nha Trang into a smart city with a particular focus on tourism.
The cooperation between the two parties is to be implemented from now to 2020 in six fields: infrastructure development; IT application in provincial e-government; IT application in tourism and planning; IT application in education, healthcare, transport, agriculture, e-commerce and industry; training and development of IT human resources; and solutions for information security network safety and intellectual property issues.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has expressed his hope for cooperation with Microsoft to turn the city into a technology incubator.
He made the remark while receiving Vice President for Asia Public Sector at Microsoft Stefan Sjöström in Hanoi on April 5, according to Ha Noi Moi daily.

The Vietnamese government has asked all central agencies and local administrations nationwide to focus efforts on preparing human resources and infrastructure development to implement the fourth Industrial Revolution.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said all ministries and sectors should apply e-government systems so that they can offer better quality services to the people and enterprises by further simplifying and modernizing all administrative procedures, Vietnam News Agency reported on Monday.
The Vietnam government is seeking to share experiences on information security, policy development, e-government projects.
MOU with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India
On March 29, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), Vietnam has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India (MeitY) to establish a joint working group for the implementation of cooperation agreements between the two ministries.
