The Ministry of Interior has signed a Dh194 million contract with a leading French IT company to provide the technology to implement the long-awaited National Identity Card (NIC) for residents.
The public will soon be able to use government services through the Dubai e-Government's online direct debit system for public service transactions with the UAE banks.
A growing number of citizen are now using the three Dubai Municipality online services launched on December 27 last year. The municipality said the SMS Service, Demarcation Service and the Zoning Regulations Service have become popular since they were introduced some 50 days ago.
The e-banking adoption rate of UAE at above 40 per cent is one of the highest in the world, according to a report published by the UAE-based Albassera Project.
The UAE at this phase needs to evaluate all the steps it undertook for the implementation of a comprehensive e-government project and examine all what it needs to make it successful.
