According to the new research, while worldwide growth in public use of e-government saw a slump in year-to-date November 2003 compared to 2002, India displayed an optimistic appetite.

The Indian Government is to spend the equivalent of £500m on e-government over the next five years in response to an embarrassing results in a UN benchmarking report.
They said that it was important for them to attend for a few tips since the event, run by Andhra Pradesh state of India, will showcase its highly successful e-governance technology.

Speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry session on Digital Maharashtra, department of information technology additional secretary S Lakshminarayanan quoted from the latest UNDP report on the e-government index for 133 countries which gave India 1.29 points on a scale of 0-4.

The state's Information Technology and Communications Department joint-director (Promotion) Capt C. K. Veeresh said the e-governance service has been well-received by the people.
