Ever since transferring to eGovernment, the Dubai Police have managed to feed into its computer system 16,514 paper files of their staff, and with that 70 per cent of the electronic transfer has been completed, said Brigadier Ahmad Hamdan bin Delmook, Head of the General Department of Electronic Services.

He said that the "electronic file project" for the force’s human resources was begun in the year 2003 and was being executed by national computer programmers who had prepared the necessary software.

Various departments falling under the Ministry of Health (MoH) are getting ready to switch over to electronic processing to enable them to be fully integrated in eGovernment services.

Meetings were held recently at the Ministry of Health involving representatives of the technical company working for Etisalt and the directors of departments in the ministry to discuss the switch to e-systems.

The vast majority of respondents to a survey feel comfortable about making payments through the mobile, said a Dubai e-Government study released on Saturday.

While almost half have access to mobile internet technology, less than a third actually use it, as per the Mobile Portal online Survey.

The survey aimed to estimate the ability and willingness of people to use mobile internet in order to allow users to access information and carry out transactions instantly via handheld wireless devices.
